Long-time HomeAid Orange County Executive Director Scott Larson Moves Up

HomeAid America announced that its board of directors has appointed Scott Larson as the organization’s next chief executive officer.  Larson, who currently serves as HomeAid Orange County’s executive director, will succeed Peter Simons, the organization’s current CEO, on October 14.

“I am very happy that HomeAid has chosen a successor with such a long and impressive history of advancing our cause and for helping so many people facing homelessness,” said Peter Simons, HomeAid America’s Chief Executive Officer. “Scott’s passion for our mission is unparalleled and I’m sure that HomeAid will continue moving forward successfully under his leadership.”

“Scott’s breadth of nonprofit experience, relationships within the homebuilding industry, and deep knowledge of HomeAid’s model is an inspiration to many in the HomeAid family,” said Sheryl Palmer, Chairman and CEO, Taylor Morrison and HomeAid America’s Board Chairman. “I’m confident his advocacy and passion for community service will continue to impact the lives within our communities across the U.S. and build upon HomeAid’s 30-year legacy of ending homelessness.”

Larson brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, project management, program implementation and community development to HomeAid America. For the past 21 years, Larson served as the Executive Director of HomeAid Orange County, the founding chapter of HomeAid. Larson united builders, community leaders, service providers and government officials to lead the development of 33 housing projects, valued at $64 million that added more than 975 beds, allowing thousands of previously homeless individuals and families access to safe, dignified housing.

“It truly has been an honor to lead the local work of HomeAid Orange County and see the direct impact that has been made on thousands of lives,” said Scott Larson.  “HomeAid is the most life-changing endeavor ever established by the homebuilding industry and it is an honor and privilege to now join with my colleagues across the country on a national level.  I look forward to working with our current and future partners and building off of HomeAid’s collective impact ending homelessness in communities across America.”

Larson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Biola University and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
