CBRE and HomeAid Team Up to Provide Housing for the Homeless
CBRE and HomeAid Team Up to Provide Housing for the Homeless CBRE (www.cbre.com), the world's largest commercial real estate services firm, selected HomeAid as a national Shelter Program partner under its corporate philanthropy program, CBRE Cares. CBRE enhanced its corporate philanthropy program to empower its professionals to directly help their local communities through housing rebuilding projects. HomeAid shares a common footprint with CBRE, and this partnership will help HomeAid chapters build and renovate an increased number of transitional shelters for the homeless in response to a growing need. HomeAid is pleased to join CBRE in the CBRE Cares program. With more than 20 years' experience building and maintaining housing for America's homeless families and individuals, HomeAid is uniquely qualified to provide CBRE's professionals with the opportunity to make an impact on thousands of lives across the country. "HomeAid offers local CBRE employees our expertise in the maintenance of housing facilities for the homeless so that they can assist suddenly homeless Americans rebuild their lives in dignified, safe surroundings," said Jeffrey A. Slavin, CEO, HomeAid America. In September 2011, CBRE and HomeAid kicked off their second-annual “Get Out and Give Back” BuildMonth, during which hundreds of CBRE professionals volunteered across the country to participate in projects with HomeAid chapters and their network of Service Providers: Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; San Diego, CA; Southeastern MI; and Tampa Bay, FL. On September 23rd, HomeAid Atlanta and 37 CBRE volunteers participated in a variety of activities for HomeStretch, an organization that provides transitional housing for homeless families with minor children. Volunteers partook in planting flowers, weeding, spreading pine needles, general clean up, and building exterior stair rails, all in an effort to help ensure that the families served by HomeStretch have a pleasant and comfortable place to call home while they work to rebuild their lives. The volunteers did an outstanding job and really made the property look great! The HomeStretch staff was very grateful for all that was accomplished. In May 2012, CBRE participated in HomeAid Atlanta's Essentials for Young Lives program. Thousands of basic needs items were collected by CBRE employees in collection bins and then sorted and distributed to non-profit Service Providers in the greater Atlanta region who provide housing, counseling and service to the homeless. The perfect storm of natural disasters, a painful economic downturn, and widespread foreclosures and loss of housing has intensified the need for facilities where America's homeless can start over. With CBRE's support, HomeAid will be able to continue and expand upon its mission "to build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives."
