HomeAid Names New Chair of its National Board of Directors

Sam Anderson of Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties Selected Chair; Derek Thomas of Newland Communities Joins Board as Director

HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for today's homeless, named Sam Anderson, executive officer of Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, as the new chair of its national board of directors. In addition, Derek Thomas, vice chairman and chief investment officer of Newland Communities, was named a director on the board. Both were introduced at the organization's national board of directors meeting held today at the International Builders' Show® in Orlando, Fla.

According to Genette Eaton, chief executive officer of HomeAid, both Anderson and Thomas bring tenured and diverse experiences in the building industry, which will significantly help advance how HomeAid provides housing for homeless individuals and families and addresses the homelessness cause itself at a national level.

"As chief executive of the largest local homebuilding association in the country and a respected leader in the National Association of Home Builders, Sam Anderson possesses a deep awareness of the building industry, a keen understanding of the current market place and tremendous credibility in the community of the nation's top builders," said Eaton. "As an executive leader for the nation's largest planned community developer, Derek Thomas' expertise in land acquisition and working relationships with many of our local and national builders give him a great understanding of HomeAid's model of securing in-kind donations of resources and materials to build our homeless housing projects.
