This is the second year of the Sakrete Sack™Program, which was created by Sakrete to raise money to help fight homelessness. The program tracks the number of quarterback sacks for each participating team. At the end of the regular season, the player with the most sacks from each team will have $5,000 donated in his name to HomeAid. The overall league sack leader will have an additional $10,000 donated in his name.Six teams participated this year: The Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons.
The Panthers, Giants and 49ers participated in last year's inaugural Sakrete Sack Program, which raised $12,500 for charity. "We are pleased to continue our relationship with these National Football League teams to help tackle homelessness," said Johnsie Beck, president of Sakrete of North America, LLC. "Sakrete has a lot in common with NFL teams. We share the same values of giving back to the community, and we believe that Sakrete products offer the same level of professionalism as NFL players. This charitable program allows us to make a positive impact on both the local and national levels because the money goes directly into these teams' communities." "The donations from the Sakrete Sack Program will help HomeAid, both locally and nationally, serve the more than three million families and individuals who are temporarily homeless each year, including more than a million children, and enable them to get back on their feet," said Genette Eaton, chief executive officer of HomeAid. "We greatly appreciate the contributions from Sakrete, along with the program's NFL team and individual participants, to support our mission to build dignified housing for the temporarily homeless and truly strengthen the local communities that benefit from this wonderful charitable program." The donation will be made to HomeAid's Northern California chapter, which has been building transitional housing facilities for the temporarily homeless since 1999. Having raised more than $3,000,000 dollars in donations and in-kind contributions, and having built seven multi-unit facilities with another two in development, HomeAid Northern California serves the 40,000 people in the Bay Area community have no place to call home.
