It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that this will be my final CEO letter. I will be retiring from HomeAid at the end of the Summer. It has been an incredible 6 ½ years at the helm of HomeAid America and a total of 17 years involved with HomeAid, whose mission to build new lives for America’s homelessness has become deeply embedded in my soul.
As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary this year, I marvel at all the life-changing work that has been done over our history. The founders of HomeAid in Orange County had a powerful idea back in 1989, and after proving it there, spread that vision and the HomeAid model across the nation. The end result is that nearly 350,000 people who were facing homelessness have now been given a safe and dignified place to live, as well as a hand-up to get their lives back on track. That mission continues today, and the numbers keep multiplying as our (soon to be) 20 chapters work tirelessly to play a big part in the effort to end homelessness in this country.
During my time at HomeAid America (following my 10 years as a builder and Board member at HomeAid Colorado), I have had the privilege to work with so many caring and dedicated people, it has made this the highlight of my career. Working side by side with these amazing people on a mission that is so fundamental to improving lives for all Americans has been an experience I will always cherish.
As I leave my role at HomeAid (I will never completely stop being involved with HomeAid) I see great things in our future. HomeAid has a very strong foundation that can be spread further and built upon to make our efforts in the fight against homelessness even more impactful. If anyone would like to be a leader in this effort, HomeAid America is currently interviewing for my successor, and you should send your letters and resumes to: email@example.com.
Thank you all for your support during my time at HomeAid. I leave with only good memories and with great pride for the things we have all accomplished. Now on to HomeAid’s next 30 years!
