HomeAid Message from CEO Peter Simons

May 2019

As we come out of a long winter, HomeAid is warming up to start celebrating our 30th Anniversary!  The actual date is in June, but we will be using the upcoming Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Francisco the last week of May to get the wheels turning.  Our booth at PCBC will feature our partners, projects, and accomplishments from our first 30 years.  This will be continued on our website for the final 30 weeks of the year after PCBC with a new story each week.  We will also be reaching out to new parts of the county as we attempt to create projects or hold outreach activities in 30 markets this year.

The majority of these activities will be in the 18 markets currently served by our chapters, plus the new chapter we are in the process of launching in Phoenix (more on that to follow).  Other remote activities will be conducted to spread the HomeAid mission of building new lives for America’s homeless.  It is at the local chapter level where the real work of HomeAid is done.  Building housing and conducting volunteer outreach, and in so doing giving hope to those in need in their communities by giving them safe places to call home.

This year we will also be launching our new HomeAid WORKS program, thanks to seed funding from a Lennar Foundation grant, giving the clients of our service provider partners a chance to further build their lives by learning skills in the construction trades (see article below).  It is another great value-added we can offer them as we together fight to end the cycle of homelessness for so many Americans.

Thank you all for your support of HomeAid over these past 30 years and please keep that support and involvement going as we ramp up our community expansion and outreach activities to give more people in more areas the chance to participate.  It will be a very eventful and impactful year as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary and, more importantly, build on our ability to help those experiencing homelessness in this country.
