Annual BIA Trap Shoot to Raise Funds for Local HomeAid Chapters

RIVERSIDE, CA  (May 14, 2010) ---  Ready, aim, fire! The Building Industry Association (BIA) Riverside County Chapter and the regional chapters of HomeAid are firing up their ‘fun’ raising efforts with their annual Trap Shoot competition on Friday, May 21st at Prado Olympic Shooting Park in Chino. Supporters of the BIA and HomeAid are invited to participate and can register by contacting HomeAid at (949) 553-9510 or gina@homeaidoc.org.  The fee for individuals is $125 and includes traps, ammo, breakfast, a barbeque lunch and beverages.

Proceeds from the Trap Shoot and sponsorships will benefit HomeAid, the charitable arm of the BIA, and its mission to build and maintain housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives.

“The Fun Shoot provides a great opportunity for HomeAid Orange County and HomeAid Inland Empire to thank the building industry for their on-going commitment to the cause of homelessness, and also gives members an opportunity to network, build company morale and create lasting business relationships,” said Terry Kent, President of the HomeAid Inland Empire Board of Directors. “Money is raised through sponsorships, team ticket sales and accompanying raffles and auctions.”

The trap shoot is an exciting and fast-paced alternative to other fundraisers offering trapshooting competition comprised of teams that compete against each other by shooting palm-sized clay discs.  Corporate teams to date include Chicago Title, Gothic Landscaping, Orange County Rescue Mission and Shea Homes.

“We anticipate a great turn out in support of the BIA and HomeAid,” said Mark Knorringa, CEO of the BIA Riverside County Chapter.  “Anyone can participate no matter what their skill level. Both experienced and first-time shooters can get free instruction on site to help improve their shooting technique. The Trap Shoot is a truly unique fundraiser for a very worthwhile cause.”

The event, which is run by BIA and HomeAid volunteers, serves to raise community awareness about the issue of homelessness through media coverage and community participation.  In addition to the HomeAid Inland Empire event, HomeAid chapters in Northern California/Bay Area; Sacramento, Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon stage annual trap shoot fundraisers.

The 2010 BIA Riverside County Chapter/HomeAid Trap Shoot is just one way that the local homebuilding industry provides support to organizations committed to the cause of homelessness.

Corporate sponsors for this year’s BIA event include Applied Photography, CamGuard, Crestwood Communities, Fred Farr, Fusion Sign & Design, and Pacific Premier Bank.

HomeAid Inland Empire and HomeAid Orange County are two of 20 HomeAid America™ chapters nationwide.  The program involves building industry volunteers working together with community leaders and service providers to offer temporary housing to men, women and children who are trying to get a new start in life.
