GET THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED!

HomeAid's Community Outreach programs provide companies and other organizations the opportunity to assist the homeless through programs benefitting local non-profit Service Providers.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Essentials for Young Lives is a program that asks both individuals and corporations to collect, donate, and distribute diapers, bottles, clothing and more to meet the needs of infants and toddlers living in HomeAid-built facilities. To date, this program has raised more than 2 million items!

Care Days are a means for volunteers to engage in shelter maintenance. Companies work with HomeAid to assist shelters with such tasks as landscape renewal, painting, and light construction.

Care Kits is a great way to get companies involved recruiting volunteers to donate, assemble and distribute kits filled with basic personal hygiene items or other essentials such as backpacks for school aged children.

Full Bellies, Warm Hearts is an event where children in need are treated to a day of fun, complete with food, games, haircuts, and family photos as well new coats, shoes, and school supplies.

Women Giving Back Thrift Store is an off-shoot of HomeAid’s Northern Virginia chapter and distributes clothing and other items collected as donations to families living in shelters built by HomeAid. Similar stores and programs could be established by other chapters.

Hunger & Homeless Awareness is a month long event in November to encourage participation with HomeAid in many of the above mentioned activities. Coinciding with National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week that takes place the week before Thanksgiving, this is a perfect time to bring greater awareness to the needs of your community as well as to promote future involvement with HomeAid.

You only need energy and imagination to develop your own community outreach program and bring attention to our ongoing battle to end homelessness!
