On the HomeAid Horizon ... Headed toward the summer months, news from the HomeAid front is heating up with the official launch of the HomeAid Wounded Veterans program led by NBA Hall of Fame player and coach Pat Riley; donor updates from this year's International Builders' Show in Orlando; a new three-month campaign from Safe Home Products, a national distributor of home security products, that will benefit today's homeless; and a new relationship with the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB). |

HomeAid and Pat Riley Launch Wounded Veterans Program
National Basketball Association (NBA) team president and former head coach of the Miami Heat, Pat Riley and HomeAid launched a new HomeAid® Wounded Veterans program to address employability for returning veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Announced at a kick-off fundraiser held in Los Angeles, the program will build facilities across the U.S. that provide supportive educational services and job-skills training to help America's heroes come home, attain self-sufficiency, and move forward with dignity and pride. Sam Anderson Named Chair; Derek Thomas Joins HomeAid Board
HomeAid named Sam Anderson, executive officer of Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, the new chair of its national board of directors. In addition, Derek Thomas, vice chairman and chief investment officer of Newland Communities, was named a director on the board. Read more. |

GE Consumer & Industrial renews its commitment to HomeAid with $150,000 donation. In addition to the cash contribution, GE Consumer & Industrial plan to continue product donations and resources that support HomeAid's efforts to end homelessness across the U.S. Read more.

Newland with Life is good® donates nearly $350,000 to HomeAid from funds raised at its 2007 Life is good Pumpkin Festivals. In addition, Derek Thomas, vice chairman and chief investment officer of Newland Communities, the nation's largest planned community developer, has been named to the organization's national board of directors. ProBuild's powerful partnership with HomeAid helps build growth at the homeless organization. The partnership with ProBuild, the largest professional building materials dealer in the U.S., consists of a multi-year, significant monetary contribution in support of HomeAid's chapter expansion efforts along the East Coast and product donation to HomeAid facilities. National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) and Wayne & Donna Smith Charitable Foundation Select HomeAid as National Charity Launched February 4, 2008 during NAMB's Legislative & Regulatory Conference in Washington, D.C., NAMB announced to its membership that it has selected HomeAid as its national charity. Countrywide H.O.M.E. Program Presented to HomeAid Chapters and Service Providers In its continued support of the HomeAid mission, Countrywide is proud to launch its Home Ownership Mortgage Education (H.O.M.E.) program to HomeAid's 22 chapters. The H.O.M.E. program is a comprehensive online reference tool, available at www.HomeByCountrywide.com that provides consumers with information on all aspects of basic homeownership - money management, banking, and savings; and essential concepts about credit. Through powerful partnerships and donations of resources, HomeAid has helped thousands of homeless families and individuals, many of whom are children, rebuild their lives. Here are a few of those partnerships that we have highlighted in 2008: |
Owens Corning, a global leader in residential and commercial building materials, glass fiber reinforcements and engineered materials for composite systems, since 2004 has dedicated its leadership to HomeAid's national board of directors; donated time, money and resources; and deployed local divisions to assistance with completing housing facilities. One of Fortune's "Most Admired Companies," Owens Corning has become one of HomeAid's most admired and respected donors. Read more.

Initiated in 2006, a generous multi-year contribution from ProBuild provided the support HomeAid needed for chapter expansion efforts along the East Coast and created a powerful partnership for the largest professional building materials dealer in the U.S. The donation facilitated entry into new communities in the East and strengthened HomeAid's capability to provide transitional housing for the temporarily homeless in these areas.
