Pam Herman - Director, HomeAid On Wheels
As Director of HomeAid on Wheels (“HOW”), Pam Herman’s primary function is to implement HomeAid’s operating model in regions of the country without a HomeAid Chapter. The HOW program was initiated to enable HomeAid to spread its geographic footprint beyond its 19 Chapters to smaller communities and those without the ability to sustain a fully functional Chapter. HOW serves as a roving HomeAid chapter delivering our Shelter Development Program to Homeless Service Providers seeking expansion or renovation of their existing facilities. Prior to starting the HOW program, Pam served as Executive Director of HomeAid Sacramento for eight years. During that time, she managed the completion of over 50 shelter projects ranging from large, newly constructed facilities to major renovations and small remodels. While at HomeAid Sacramento, she developed key relationships with homeless service providers, local elected officials, and homeless coalitions. She was also instrumental in insuring the financial stability of the chapter during the building industry’s economic downturn. At HomeAid Sacramento, Pam completed the first safe house for abused senior citizens in the western United States. This HomeAid shelter utilized energy efficient building practices, including the donation of a 7.4 KW solar panel package, allowing the shelter to be 30 percent more efficient than standard new homes in California. Additionally, Pam implemented a volunteer program entitled Painting a Better Tomorrow, a community outreach program, and a very successful HomeAid Care program. In her role as the Sacramento chapter executive, Pam also directed the chapter’s fund development activities and developed strong alliances between the HomeAid and the homebuilding industry. Prior to HomeAid, Pam worked for Sacramento HealthCare Decisions and the California Optometric Association. Herman earned a B.S. degree in Biology at California State University in Sacramento and a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
