HomeAid Home Builders Care (HomeAid Dallas)5816 West Plano ParkwayPlano, TX 75093 Dallas resolves to make a difference for homeless individuals and families The Office for Education of Homeless Children and Youth, estimates that 130,000 children in Texas are homeless over the course of a year. Dallas is committed to better addressing the core issues of poverty: low wages and lack of affordable housing. Social service providers cannot be the safety net for an infinite number of people. This area of need is where HomeAid Home Builders Care comes in. Founded in July 2000 as a non-profit organization under the auspices of the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas, HomeAid Home Builders Care's mission is building or renovating shelters for the temporarily homeless. HomeAid Home Builders Care is a visible expression of the Home Builders Association and the home building industry's commitment to the Greater Dallas communities. We build shelters that serve individuals and families who find themselves without shelter due to factors such as domestic violence, job loss, catastrophic illness, spousal desertion or death and crisis pregnancy. "HomeAid is a program that has tremendous value to the local association and the community. It provides a "ready made template" of how to involve formerly uninvolved members, find potential community partners and build relationships that can only be described as "win-win," said Bob Morris, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas. "To see how important elements of our community have embraced and supported our efforts has reassured our leadership that we have embraced our own winning program." Real People. Real Results. "Thanks to HomeAid Home Builders Care, Beazer Homes, and everyone else involved, Brighter Tomorrows expects to serve over 500 women and children escaping violent situations during the first year of operation. Because so much was donated, we not only have a beautiful shelter, but also two years of operating funds. In these times of uncertainty, that is truly a blessing." - Jana Amil-Barker, Executive Director, Brighter Tomorrows |
